I am more capable than I think.

I work part-time at a warehouse getting packages ready for drivers to pick up and deliver. My job before this was sitting at a computer for eight hours, so the first week of this very physical job left me feeling a level of tired I hadn't felt in a while.

The age range of employees ranges from teenagers to retirees. At 38, when I started, I just wanted to keep up with the 20-somethings. Now that I've been there for almost a year and a half now, I now know I need to try and keep up with the retirees. They are consistently performing whereas the 20-somethings are occasionally great. I know this as management will usually come over the intercom to let everyone know the number of packages they have pulled. The retirees are consistently always near the top performing.

If I feel tired during my four hours there, I remind myself there are others out here more than double my age and outperforming me. It has never deterred me, but motivated me. I hope that when I'm their age I can be strong enough to be able to do this job.

The other things I do, however, that now also help me are working out 3-4 days a week, getting a 90-minute full body massage once a month, and seeing a chiropractor every 3 weeks. Also drinking water with electrolytes, as this Texas heat is nothing to mess around with.
